I was having problems with a blue screen (1033) always coming up for the past month so I reinstall Windows late last night. Re-install a few programs and a game I was trying to finish. While playing the game (approx. 5-10 min into playing) my monitor went to 'no input signal' which is the same thing it had been doing previously. I did a hard reset, and rebooted Windows. Once rebooted it came up with this crash message. The same message I was also getting previously.

I am at a complete loss as to what is the problem. Before I did the reinstall of Windows. The crash report (after searching for a solution via the tab) would tell me it was a Nvidia problem and that my driver needed to be updated. But at that time the driver was already up to date according to Nvidia control panel. This time I tried to get a solution and it didn't even bring up a window showing any solutions.

I have no idea what is wrong with this machine but I'm starting to think it's hardware related due to the fresh install. Could one of the more techie people on here run me through what I need to do to fix this issue? I do have a laptop I can use in the meantime but my desktop is my go to computer. So I'd like to get this fixed asap.

    Specs:
    Compaq/HP Model: SR5633WM
Windows Vista Home Premium (remember fresh install since 05/16/2014 with factory settings)
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
    Memory: 2.00 GB
    System type: 32-bit

    Cleaning apps I run religiously:
Avast Internet Secuirty (paid subscription, latest version)
    MalwareBytes (free, latest version)
CCleaner (latest version, but haven't reinstalled yet)
Defraggler (latest version, but haven't reinstall yet)

I couldn't edit my first post so here's the extra info I wanted to add.

I've also noticed that when I start the computer the boot screen (the black one) doesn't show up on the monitor. My monitor came with the computer. It's a Compaq WF1907. It says 'no input signal' until the Windows logo comes up.

However, I also have an HDMI port in the graphics card which I use to hook to my tv. If I boot the computer with the tv on for HDMI it does show the black boot screen on the tv. Just not the monitor.

I just finished cleaning out the computer. There was some dust in the fans and the graphics card fan. I blew what I could out with canned air and then carefully proceeded to pull out what I couldn't from within the fan blades with a pair of tweezers.

Booted it back up and I'm still having the same issues I did as described at the beginning of this message.

I'm not sure what else I can do. Everything seemed to be in place and not askew.

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS. To be more specific this is the one I have. I bought it on Amazon in late 2011.

Anyone? I've googled this error but every post contradicts the other. So I'm not sure where I'm supposed to start trying to fix it. If I need a new graphics card it would be nice to know so I can buy it and get on with my life. Suggestions would also help based on the current one I have. Please?

Seriously 349 views and no one could take a moment to help me out?

I'm having even more troubles now! I was watching a show through VLC and out of nowhere the computer restarts itself. This has happened twice now in one night. No blue screen where it freezes up. Just out of the blue restarts on it's own. And when it restarts the system doesn't even show up on the monitor or my tv through the hdmi cable. After I do a hard reset it comes back up on the tv, but not my actual monitor. My computer monitor forever displays the 'no input signal' logo.

But here's the topper! Since no one decided to help and the damn thing keeps restarting obviously no doubt it's the graphics card I'm using. I decided to unhook the actual monitor from the graphics card and hook it into the onboard card. So then I go try to go into the BIOS to switch back the settings from the graphic card to the onboard one, but unfortunately I can't get into the BIOS. It says "press F10 to enter setup". I've gently pressed F10, I've mashed F10 and no matter what I cannot access the BIOS. The only thing that will come up is Windows starting or Windows Boot Manager. Nothing I do will let me into the BIOS so I can change the setting. WTF is wrong with this thing????? :(

    Hi donetao,

Thanks for your reply. After I posted that last message and couldn't get into the BIOS. I completely removed the graphics card itself and the system booted back up to the original settings. I wasn't sure if it would do that but it did.

I'm not 100% sure if it is the graphics card creating all these problems but I'm going to give it a few days and see if I have any more blue screens and random restarts. In the meantime, I thought I'd look for a new graphics card - possibly on Amazon. Is there anything you (or anyone else) can recommend giving my computer stats and the previous graphics card I had?

I mostly use this computer for internet surfing and light gaming such as online games, those Nancy Drew adventure games, Mystery Case Files, etc.

For more in depth gaming (Resident Evil: Revelations, etc) I've been using my laptop which is more updated than my desktop computer. So anything that can handle some more lighter games and day to day tasks and some light video editing and such would be perfect for the desktop.

Specs can be found in my earlier posts.
