blue screen after startup

On startup ,after the windows logo and log on ( home edition xp) my computer just displays a blue screen. I have tried to boot up in safe mode and in the previous working settings, and have tried to repair on bootup on the xp CD, but all to no avail. Are there any suggestions for a desperate soul.The only thing that I can think of that might have some issues is the new ethernet adapter that I installed after the old one died.

could be yeah.. Video card problem.. Hmmz.. how about..

1. take safemode with F8 on windows startup
you will see all drivers it loads.. and you should see where it stops or does it give blue screen when you see list of drivers. if it does give bluescreen after some specific driver you can replace that file.

2. if this is not the case and oyu get actually pass the drivrs and blue screen comes right before GUI view. it can be Winlogon even doing it.

...anyhow basic/easiest solution would be add Windows Install CD in > start the install > it will ask you that "there is windows allready installed in this harddrive" and it will ask can the install try to fix that installation. (well when you choose this it won't delete any of your settings, but simply repair the install by copying over important starting files (Including DISPLAY DRIVER). So this might be useful and best solution..

 

My bad.. reading skills are getting worst every day.. So repair options have been tryied all ready. Sorry about advice to that direction.

 

yes guys thank you ,,, iam taking it slow with this 14yr old and trying to make sure he does the right things, were in australia as well , so bed time,,,,, all is being done by phone, so its tricky, trying to get him of the hook of messing up his real dad's pc,,, lol . thanks,,,, Jeff
