Yesterday, my computer abruptly shut off and went to the dreaded blue screen. The error message said that "Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" and then listed the problem file as:
avg7rsxp.sys I have a free version of AVG virus software that hasn't been updated in a little while. Should I run the update or just delete the whole program?

Also, when I turned my computer back on, I got a message from Spy Sweeper that "KernelFaultCheck" has been added to my computer. Should I allow it?
    Please help.

I would remove AVG and reboot and see if that helps the situation. As far as the 'kernel fault check', I don't know :confused Maybe choose 'do not allow' at first and see if any problems arise.... If removing AVG helps, run CCleaner to clean your junk files, and choose 'Issues' to scan the registry. Go thru the list and remove all AVG & Grisoft references. Reboot again, and if all is well, maybe reload the latest AVG (v7.5 I believe).
