I get a blue screen on pc every now and again. It happens randomly and not when doing anything in particular.

    A message comes up

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

In the tech info it says

    0x0000000a (0xFFFFFFF4,0X00000005,0X00000000,0X804DA915)

Can anyone tell me what it is and why it keeps happening and what I need to do to stop it.

    Many thanks

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop Errors

Possibly the most annoying Stop error that you will ever see, essentially is a memory error caused by a driver or piece of software that has caused an error accessing memory, It can also be caused by defective/unsupported hardware, so pretty much anything. But, typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software.

Make a note of the stop error ESPECIALLY the "filename" as this can point you to a defective driver or the software/hardware at the root of the problem.

I would also run Memtest86 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1247 and see if it might be your memory causing the problem. It may take it awhile to run, so wait until you will not be using the computer for awhile before you run it.

Just something else to check, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310918&sd=RMVP

Maybe post your latest minidumps for analysis. The are located at c:\windows\minidump and named 'MiniMMDDYY-NN.dmp' where M=month, D=Day, Y=Year and N=the Nth crash on that date. Post the last 2 or 3.

Would also suggest a look in device manager for any driver issues and also in event viewer for errors in system and applications.

I had that similar problem recently. It turned out to be my video driver. I tried to install the latest driver, but no cigar!

It took a few hours out of my life, but I got the bluescreen problem (and a lot of other problems solved on my hard working 3 year old laptop solved by performing a repair install of Windows.

I suggest that you do a good backup, buy a 6 pack, take a deep breath, and do the same.

When you get any kind of re-occuring blue screen problem, this is generally the way to go.

My computer is running like a new born baby now.
