Hi, whenever I boot up windows I get a BSOD that gives me a NMI: Memory Parity error, and it says that there was a hardware malfunction, etc. But then I can turn it off and then start windows with my latest good settings and it works. Also, I found that when I have my webcam plugged in it dosn't encounter the error, but when it is unplugged it does occur the error. I believe that this narrows the cause of my error down or at least leads to something but I'm not sure.

    Help please?

Rig: Dell XPS 400, Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3, 2G RAM

I recently installed a new motherboard as well, but I didn't encounter the error right after, so I don't believe its my hardware. I'm pretty sure its a faulty driver, or at least I'm hoping.

Start up using last known good configuration with the webcam unplugged. Uninstall the web cam software. Download and install the newest chipset drivers available. Reboot. Then download the newest webcam drivers available and install them. Then reboot again. You said you have a Dell XPS400, but that you installed a new motherboard... is the board from Dell? If not, please post the make and model of the motherboard. If these steps don't work, please post when you installed SP3 and if the errors started at about the same time as the SP3 install...

Well come to think of it the errors did start somewhere around when I updated to SP3, because EVERYTHING worked fine after I got the new motherboard, including the camera. Would uninstalling SP3 possibly fix that?

I'll go ahead and proceed with checking the webcam software if not.

Update: I updated all my drivers, including the cam, and it still gave me the error. Then I went out and decided to try uninstalling SP3 and so far my computer has restarted without problem. I'll check and make sure it's all fixed.

Update2: I restarted again and I encountered the error. I actually had to reboot about 3 times to get past it. In the end it may just be RAM, I sometimes get a I/O Parity error before the BIOS even loads. I then have to unplug the power cord and hold the power button for 15 seconds to clear all the junk, it starts up after that.
