Hey guys and gals, not sure if this is the right forum but hear goes.
About a month or two ago I got a blue screen with a physical memory dump, with the following message:
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x1300C88D, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF66DC5A1)
    and something stating
    RT61.sys Address F66DC5A1 base at F66BC000 Date Stamp 42a19999

    any idea what this means?

    I am running Win XP

The file RT61.sys is a file from Ralink Technology which is a company that primarily makes wifi adapters to connect to the internet wirelessly. If your wireless device is not built in to the PC, remove it and boot up and see if that stops the error; if it does, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the wireless software and drivers. If the device is built in, see if it can be disabled in the BIOS (some laptops also have a switch or button that can be used to turn the wifi off) and see if that helps; if so, again, uninstall the driver/software. If you can't remove or disable the wireless device, or if disabling/removing it doesn't help, try booting in Safe Mode (when you power on your PC, wait for the logo screen to go away; the second it disappears, start pressing the F8 key; eventually a Windows Boot Menu will appear; select 'Safe Mode' and press Enter). If you can boot to the desktop, again try to uninstall the wireless software and driver, and go into the Device Manager and uninstall the wireless device from the Network Adapters category. Regardless of how you do it, you need to uninstall the wireless driver and software, then restart the PC and let it boot in normal mode. If all seems well, reinstall the device if you removed it (enable it if it was disabled) and then reload the newest available driver and software.

    Good luck! Keep us posted!

(I researched 0x000000D1 and it is an error that is almost exclusively related to networking software problems, which makes sense in this scenario; there were far too many entries for 0x000000D1 at Microsoft to be listed here; if you want to research it yourself, click this link.)

Thanks dlb, I was able to disable it and boot in normal mode, which to my surprise, asked me to update driver for Ralink Technology and I am running fine so far. Thanks for your help and support.
