Lets me start by listing the computer pieces that I have.

    Motherboard

    RAMS

I have JUST finished building a new computer this past weekend. I used the help of my brother and his friend who are studying computer science.

ANY WAY, To get to the problem. I was playing on the computer with NO problem what so ever until it crashed during Skyrim (on Ultra Graphic ). I played for 6-7 hours on Skyrim till the PC crashed for the first after putting it together (That was on my 3rd day using the computer ). I got the blue screen and computer restarted. After that, I got another Blue Screen 5mins into playing the Sims. AFTER THAT, I am not able to stay on windows for more than 5 seconds without getting the blue screen and the system rebooting.

We thought the SSD harddrive was the problem but I even tried installing windows on my 2TB hard drive and I wasn't even able to Finish installing windows without getting the blue screen.

I updated the BIOS from the "F1" Screen and it still wouldn't get to windows.

We thought the problem could be from the ram so I tried to take off the rams one by one to see if one of them was a bad piece but that didn't help either and I was still crashing. The motherboard had a red light to "MemOK!" next to the ram. I read about the button and why it was lighting in red and I toke actions to fix the problem but nothing happened. The catalog of the motherboard said that the DIMM was not installed probably but we already updated the motherboard ... etc

I have tried SO MANY things and computer just wouldnt get to windows. I even formatted EVERYTHING on my SSD and HDD and tried to install windows but cant even completely install windows without getting the blue screen before installing all of it.

I am thinking that either the RAM or the Motherboard is dead or something.

BTW, after completely removing windows and failling to install it, my motherboard has 3 red lights lighting when I first turn the PC on.

They are : MemOK!. VGA ... "something" and another 3rd light.

Let me know for any suggestions or if u want more informations.

I am planning to send my motherboard back for replacement tomorrow.

PS: I am using MSI Raedon 7970 ATI video card.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks Mohanned :)

A quick look makes me think this is probably a RAM settings issue, you need to find the correct settings for the voltages and timings and set them in the BIOS.

Did you check that this RAM is suitable on the ASUS page for the motherboard? Look for a link to memory QVL for details on RAM tested to be compatible - also compare the RAM details listed for this 'board on Crucial.

Uninstall any Asus motherboard utilities, for overclocking, system monitoring, etc. many of these have been known to cause BSODs.

If you have any minidumps in Windows\Minidump, you can copy the latest 2 or 3 to the Desktop, zip and attach them please. I might be able to find out what's wrong from them.

I think you were correct in suspecting that the SSD might be a problem, it's not so uncommon.

I really need the BSOD 0x******** codes to have more of a clue, the dumps would be much better.

Thank you very much for replay. But no I can't even log into windows anymore. Cause I formatted the one was installed and I couldn't even get through installing it again without getting the blue screen and rebooting. I will talk to my brother about the BSOD files cause i dont know what that is and I will try to get u the number that u need.

PS: My brother and his friend were the once building the PC for me. I am still a nooby

Time to do some wikipedia on BSOD.

This error is most likely a bad driver or memory, test the memory as advised in the other thread you started, if you can find the dump file I asked for, I can check it for bad and old drivers.

Drivers can include things like motherboard utilities for software overclocking and monitoring (these have a bad reputation for causing BSODs - uninstall) and any security software - uninstall any 3rd party firewall and antivirus, enable the Windows firewall and use Microsoft Security Essentials. Some uninstalls can be done from Safe Mode, some can't.

Plodr, the link gives me a 404 :( I guess they rearranged the site.

Thanks plodr, much easier that way.

I don't like the way the article pushes that software though, most of those softwares end up using a 'best guess' method for any lesser known drivers, which can lead to more work to fix it. Also, the software website has a very bad reputation with WOT (they've changed their page layout recently, I'll try to dig deeper for details).

EDIT: Ouch, the articlewriting site also has a bad rep. there :(

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Pardon the intrusion. Just a couple of quick observations:

It's very likely that several Windows Updates were being processed in the background - I recently finished a new build that required several days to catch up on updates. It's also possible that, left unchecked, Windows decided that you might have needed some driver updates, and we all know that Windows driver updates can cause problems...

    "Updated the BIOS"? Yikes!

That's lot of RAM-handling going on, especially in the winter when static is much more prevalent...

I can't because there is no more windows installed on the computer and I can't even get to install windows without getting a blue screen half way through the installation. The Motherboard is sent to be replaced any way, so hopefully that will fix the problem.
