    Hi,

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 with a Viewsonic VA223wm Monitor. When I use Zune or a game program that switches over to another screen, I will eventually get a Blue screen that says:

    ***STOP: 0x000000EA (0x89CB05F8, 0x89BBE518, 0xF78C6CBC, 0x00000001)

I am using the Intel Q35 Express Chiset Family, driver igxprd32 (6.14.10.4957)

A recent game I ran (City of Heroes) warns that my driver is old, dated 6-11-2008. I'm not sure if this all lines up.

I would like to get everything fixed so I stop getting these crashes. Can you help?

So, yes, it looks like you might have outated drivers, your Dell download page is here but it doesn't appear to have many recent updates. As your machine is Intel-based, looking for updates with IE using this tool should help you find the most recent drivers for the motherboard chipset and network driver, etc.

If you have a PCIe graphics card, you'll need to visit ATI/AMD and track down the latest drivers there (or nVidia if you've installed an aftermarket card by them).

Well, I do have the latest driver and I installed it this morning. The blue screen came up before this and after this. Is is safe to conclude that it is likely a bad video card? The video card is on-board, so there's nothing I can to to change it, I would have to get another video card and install one (drat).

    Please confirm my logic.

An issue I have with getting a video card for it is that it is a desktop unit and the video card (PCIe x16) has to be half height or low profile...

I turned on my HP6200 series and get a 1017(STHIVE#0) and it tries to repair and restart but get same thing over and over.

It could be the Intel graphics at fault, though that would be unusual, did you check the Intel site for drivers (link above - using this tool)?

ATI/AMD HD 5450/6450 and nVidia cards like the 210 are frequently available in the low profile (and passive) formats (~$40?), they have pretty low power requirements, most PSUs will probably power them ok - but if you get different issues afterwards, it might be that the PSU/motherboard is struggling/dying - ensure your vital data is backed up safe away from the computer, bad PSUs can kill hard drives and data!

@ mbender: Welcome to Majorgeeks - now make a new thread with your problem please, it's less confusing for everyone ;)

Yessir, I did check the Intel website, it said for me to check out the Dell website.

I'll have to see if I can get a low profile video card cheap.

I'm not sure what it's called when the screen switches over in the case of playing a game, but this is the only time when the system crashes with the blue screen. It has been completely stable otherwise.

Does it only happen with City of Heroes?
