I was working away on a project when the BSD came up and the below. It has not done it again but what does it signify? Intel Core i7-3770 CPU 3.4GHz 16GB 64 Bit Win 7 Ultimate Serv Pack 1

Have you updated your Graphics driver recently?

It's almost certainly a driver issue, we need the minidump (C:\Windows\Minidump\121916-8720-01.dmp) to dig deeper.

You'll need to unhide files/folders to see the minidump file: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files then you can copy the minidump to the Desktop, then zip (right-click it > send to > Compressed folder) and attach the resulting zipped file to a reply here.

Well I followed the instructions but each time I select and send to compressed folder the above comes up with File Not Found or No Read Permission upload_2017-1-4_19-51-1.png upload_2017-1-4_19-51-35.png

That's caused by temp file permissions. See this 'most helpful reply'
"I had the same issue on Windows 7. Mine was caused by access to the Temp folder not being set. When Windows compresses a folder, it was using the Temp folder and when it copies it, it inherits the Temp folder permissions which were not set. After setting the Temp folder permissions appropriately, I no longer receive this error.

To find your Temp folder on Windows 7,
-Click on start, right-click on 'Computer' and select properties
    -Click 'Advanced System settings'
    -Click 'Environment Variables...'

I used the location for the user variable for 'Temp' up top and set the permissions for local administrators to have access

    Good luck!

You MUST be signed into an ADMINISTRATOR user account in Windows.

Perhaps you missed the "copy the minidump to the Desktop" part of my reply?

It's a permissions issue alright but it's nothing to do with file/folder compression, it's to do with the location.

Yes, reading the instructions at least twice often helps, experience beats a random Googled 'answer' as well ;)

@mdonah: it looks like the Nvidia drivers are the most recent additions, maybe an October release?

Now it's my turn to step outside of my experience/comfort zone: there are a rather large number of potentially BSOD -causing drivers loading on your PC but none get a mention in the saved dumps as being part of the cause. In an attempt to cut down on time trying to remove all the possible causes, I think it might be better to try to flush out the bad driver directly, this will result in another BSOD (though more than one new dump would be preferable) and recovery from it might be tricky - do you have your W7 DVD handy? Can you create a new System Restore point?

What I'm suggesting is to run Driver Verifier, which will create stress on each driver that's loaded, making an average PC feel a little 'laggy'/sluggish. When it detects something abnormal, it will call a crash and, hopefully, get a verified dump saved.

The main drawback to this is that sometimes it will BSOD immediately after the required reboot - then you'll need a method of regaining access to run System Restore to recover Windows. If that happens, we'll go back to uninstalling known bad and suspect drivers instead.

Okay, so if you have a working W7 DVD (or bootable USB version) and have created a fresh Restore Point, you can study the contents of the link above to prepare yourself for running Driver Verifier.

Once you take the plunge and get a dump or two saved, please zip and attach them to a reply again.

For info only at this stage, the 3rd party drivers loaded in the dumps, some are known BSOD makers, there are also a few others that are suspect or very rarely implicated. Very old drivers (esp. pre SP1, November 2010, are also suspect) as are any very recent drivers, or any drivers/filters remaining from an uninstalled software, esp. security software, also many 'virtual' drivers:
