    Hello All

    I am experience a problem I can’t fathom.

Sometimes – just occasionally – say about 3 times a week the computer blue screens when I am accessing a folder through Windows explorer. It’s not the same folder each time.

Occasionally it does it when searching for a file from within another programme – Word for instance – when changing folders it blue screens.

    I’m running Windows 7.

    Any Ideas?

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

can you go to your c:\WINDOWS\Minidump folder and attach any and all .dmp files in that folder to this forum? Those are bluescreen logs, I or someone else will analyze them for you to get to the root of your computer problem

    Thanks for your interest Thisisu.

I have not uploaded files before can you point me at the help topic that explains the procedure?

There are 14 files. Do you want them all?

How can I open theses files so that I can also see what you are seeing?

    Thanks

    Hello Thisisu

Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you.

The Minidump files have the extension “.dmp” and as far as I can see the “Manage Attachments” window does not permit the upload of these files.

I have tried a number of times but I get an invalid file error.

Furthermore although I am logged on as an Administrator I sometimes get a dialogue saying that I don’t have permission to open the files.

I have changed permissions but this appears to be unreliable.

I have attempted to Zip them but I get Access is denied errors.

However with BlueScreenView I can see the content of the files. The problem appears to be consistently something to do with ntoskrnl.exe and on two occasions with dxgkrnl.sys

    Any suggestions?

if memory passes, can you run a sfc /scannow through command prompt?

    start > run > cmd >

    sfc /scannow

    ----

may even be your power supply, too bad we can't test that really quickly.
