Bluescreen Crash at Plugin to USB

I have a device from Adstech - Model USBAV-709 - which converts composite video (RCA Pin Plug) or S-Video and two channels of audio to USB.

and they don't seem to be capable of supporting their own product ('nuff said!).

When I plug the device in, the device is recognized and a "Bluescreen Crash" follows shortly thereafter.

A short description of what happens is attached in "Notepad" format

The "dmp" file is attached as a "txt" file (Mini012411-01.dmp.txt).

A screenshot of the error report (XP Error Report mono.bmp) is attached.

Can anyone help or point me to someone who might?

 

this appears to be most likely a driver problem. Do you have a disk with the drivers on it. Have you installed the driver(s) prior to plugging the device in? Is it possible to try it on another computer to make sure it's not faulty?

 

The problem may have been a wonky USB connector in the computer.

I retraced all steps as far as data downloads and installations without joy, then got into the hardware and reseated everything in sight.

Everything seems to be OK now, the product and its (downloadable) software(s) works very well and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to load video / audio into a computer for editing and DVD authoring purposes (Its "CapWiz" software has run glitchlessly for me, giving me .mpg files to work with.).
