bluetooth?

hey, can anyone tell me if there is a bluetooth device that will allow me to interface my pc laptop with a mobile fone? sure would appreciate any help. thanks...:major

 

There are many USB Bluetooth adapters on the market. The main concern is if your specific make/model of phone has a decent PC software suite available that will let you do this without headaches.

Go to the phone mfr's support site and check their downloads section. Be sure to check if your specific phone model is listed as compatible with this software. The support/downloads page will also list the supported versions of Windows and minimum PC specs.

A few words of warning:

Some phone mfrs' software is far from perfect. A case in point is Samsung: Although the specs state it supports Windows 7, it does not play nice on 64-bit versions (have tried it on two PCs).

If you want to do basic stuff only (such as transferring music or pictures), you may be able to do this without the mfr. software, using the "Printers and Devices" menu in Windows 7. In theory this should work. In reality, both the phone and specific bluetooth adapter may affect setup and performance.

Personally, I just use a USB cable designed for my phone. Don't pay $25-$30 at the phone store or Best Buy; you can find good ones for most specific phone models at about $3-$4 including shipping on eBay.
