    Hi all,

I googled this one, but I can't find out how to get rid of it. My niece has it on her laptop, in the temp directory. It won't allow itself to be deleted, and her antivirus software wont get rid of it. She's running XP home.

any ideas how to trash it?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response.

That's a bit heavy for her, even with me helping over the phone. It's a low risk. Anything wrong with leaving it where it is until I can get to her place? Could be a week or two. She turns off the laptop when not in use.

(not that I'm a geek or anything, but I would probably be able to try a removal tool)

    no sweat MrPewty ;)

if she still is able to surf the net, you might want to e-mail her this link:
in an attempt to remove the virus: http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp

i'm not sure it will work tho, it's kinda a new virus that acts like sasser.. going into battle with Bagle and Netsky worms.

    greetings

And also make sure she visits Windows Update to get those critical updates or she could end up with the real Sasser...
