Bookmarks

Replaced old computer with HP refurbish. Replaced hd as old one not compatible with this unit.
Several sites I frequented were on desktop as shortcuts with individual icons.
With replacement computer I have been unable to get these sites onto desktop. I had to bookmark them, and even then several are "sub" bookmarked as recent bookmarks.
Am I missing some logical way to get these sites over to Desktop and with an icon?

You should be able to open your bookmarks manager, find the site bookmarks you want to place on the desk top and drag them from the manager window to the desk top.

Another method would be, bring up the site you want a shortcut for and drag the icon at the beginning of the address bar to the desk top.
