    Hi

I just built a windows xp pro sp2 machine with the following specs
    1.6GHZ dual processor
    160 SATA seagate hard drive
    2.5GB ddr2 667mhz ram

all i have installed on the machine is norton 2007 and office pro 2003
It seems to be a little sluggish booting and shutting down. It takes a little over one minute to shut down and boot up. I have machines running P4 1.6 wth 384MB ddr ram and it boots up and shuts down in half the time

I started looking in log files and i looked in userenv log and see a lot of stuff wondering if this could be a source of problems or not. should i just reformat and reinstall xp or is there a quicker fix??

the log file reads something like

    userenv(120.228) 19:32:46:328 processautoexce: cannot process autoexec.bat
    userenv(e4.708) 10:40:53:186 loaduserprofilei: loaduserproflep failed with 21
loaduserprofile: caling loaduserprofilei failed erro =21
getgpoinfo local gpo's gpt.ini is not accessible assuming default state

these messages are listed over and over again with different time stamps any help would be great or I will just reload xp and hopefully after that it will just be ok. thanks

Do you have Norton 2007 on the other box that is faster?

Try uninstalling it and see if it helps any.

Plus, make sure you have the latest drivers & firmware & BIOS for all the components in your new PC.
