I heard that some new motherboards can boot from detachable USB drives (you know, instead of a floppy drive). any news on this rumor?

I know you can boot from flash cards ... so I don't see any reason you couldn't do something like that .. I know my BIOS has more boot options than the typical 'cdrom, hdd, floppy'

Yeah, my motherboard can boot to a USB device. Flash Drives or External Hard Drives, I imagine.

If your Bios has the option to boot from USB, then with that enabled, you should be a ble to boot from anything connected via usb that has a boot record on it!!!!

    Atleast I know I can!!

Some older PC's & laptops can also boot from external sources such as USB.

Check bios options, or for MOBO you havent bought yet info at manufactures web, download manual.
