Boot From Easeus Copied OS Partition

Hi there I recently used Easeus Partition Master to Copy my C: drive over onto an external. This happened successfully.

To do so I had to copy it to a partition of the same size which happened to be partition 1 on the external, just as on the internal.

When I tried to boot from USB, this failed to work and i'm sure I need to do something to make it bootable this way.

But anyway, so I plugged it in via the same SATA port (replacing the internal drive) and it fails to boot.

Must I edit the boot.ini? Or is there some vital fact i'm missing here.
    Thanks.

Also how would I edit it and to what?

My current internal is a 750GB seagate with 4 partitions
My new HDD with copy of C: is 2TB seagate with 5 partitions

Should I delete the Page file from the copy of C: ?

I suspect that an Easeus partition copy does not copy the disk's MBR (master boot record, the first sector of a drive and not part of any partition). If the program gives you the option also to copy the MBR that might fix it.

What version of EaseUS Partition Master do you have? Where did you find the "Rebuild MBR" button? I, too, made a copy of my OS hard drive that I want to boot from and haven't come across anything that helps.

    Please reply ASAP!

    9.1.0

it Rebuilds the Master Boot Record of the whole disc, not the partition drives...

so if you have cloned your boot partition to the same disc, or are clicking on the partition you want to work, the Rebuild MBR button in the left menu doesn't show up

it is when you click the Disk itself.

so if you have more than one HDD you see Disk1 Disk2 Disk3,
click the one the new non-booting boot partition is on.

I only have 1 so I click the heading Disk 1 which happens to have (MBR) in brackets next to it. then I edit the boot.ini to include multiple OS, so then the boot screen asks me which one I want to boot from.

When highlighted just as you highlight a partition in the disk, the left hand menu changes and there is the 'Rebuild MBR' option.

Let me know if you aren't sure and I will screenshot.

Oh, I see. Yeah, my non-booting copy is on the same disk (disk 0). By what you are explaining, shouldn't my computer use the same MBR then, if I am booting from the same disk? I don't see why that wouldn't work... If that isn't possible, I may have to use my external drive. Hopefully that works!
Do you know of any programs that I could use to get my second partition to boot? I really need this to work and it is really getting me angered.
Or, is there some way I can tell my MBR to kick-in for either partition, or tell my second partition to use that MBR?

If you have any tips that may help, too, I would appreciate it :)

You could try booting the Partition Master CD and hiding the first partition and setting the second partition Active. That's assuming the CD version has those advanced options. If it does not you could try using the installed version and rebooting but that might cause other issues.

The best way around this is to use a Grub-style boot manager. I use Grub4DOS which uses a simple text file to set the boot configuration options, enabling you to switch the booting partition very easily.
