boot help :(

i installed windows xp pro on 1 of 2 partitions on my harddrive but then deleted the partition b/c i installed windows xp home on the other (don't ask me why i did it). later i joined the 2 partitions as one but in the boot up menu it still says 2 options - windows xp home or windows xp pro

how can i delete the option of loading windows xp pro?

 

So, if I'm reading this right, you just want to boot into Win XP Home, without the options menu coming up at all, yes? If so, make sure your boot.ini file looks like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

You'll need to go to Tools > Folder Options > View and enable the viewing of hidden and system files/folders and enable viewing of protected operating system files also in order to view and edit the boot.ini file.
Be careful! Incorrectly changing the boot.ini can render your windows unbootable (it's easy to fix if you have your XP CD though). I usually rename the boot.ini file to something like "old_boot.ini" before I save a new one. That way I still have the old file in case I messed up the new one.

 

where is the said boot.ini file? i cant find it...
