I am still working on my senior citizens computer.
Virus issues aside...the system will not recognise the C: drive.
Please excuse my ignorance, how can I re-install if it won't recognise the drive?

    Thanks

    Hello Bri

Is there anything left on this Hard Drive (c: drive) that you need or have you got copy's of all the software and files etc?

(might need abit more info about whats going on)

Does the BIOS recognize the drive.

    More Info would help.
    System Specs please.
Is this C drive a new HDD? is it formated? can bios see it? what type is it SATA or IDE?
Elaborate on your referance to Virus issues.

    System running Windows ME: E-Machine
Pretty sure its a pentium II/III
By the time I got to his system it would boot and slow down to almost freezing.
All of his symptoms indicated spyware and virus infection.
I cleaned up his cookies and temp files and that allowed me to start following your site's instructions for spyware removal, however, during the updates for spybot the system froze and blue screened.
the system would not allow a soft reboot or shut down, so I had to perform a hard shut down.
When I tried to bring up the system it would ask for a boot disk.
So this lil old guy has squat in any kind of disks for his system.
I found a boot disk online copied from my system and booted his up.
I tried a bootable Cd that has repair diagnostics.
Both indicated that the C: drive could not be found.
It indicated that the problem was probably due to a virus, a drive format issue and/or hard drive failure.

    I hope this is enough.
I thought I'd try to boot with an old NT set up disk that I have...
but I'd rather wait to hear from you.
thanks for taking the time to review my posting.
