Boot Problem¿¿

Well for some reason my computer has started booting to the screen that ask if you want to do the NORMAL SAFE or Step boot options. It does it a couple times after I hit normal boot and then boots up to windows like it should. I''m just curious what might have caused it to start doing this. I have booted into Windows and started Dr.Watson and it told me nothing abnormal. Well we all know thats a lie because windows if just plan abnormal. OH yea I'm running 98 with all the updates.

 

By any chance has somthing been spilled on the keyboard that would cause the F8 key to stick, which would take you to that menu.

The reason I ask is that it has happened before, and it took a long time as well as a few formats and reinstalls to figure out..

I don't think so as I didn't do it but I do have children but the youngest is 16 and I think she would tell me if she did.

 

Hmmm.. sounds like a key/keyboard issue...

Nothing sitting on your keyboard?
Any new installs? Kids playing with other OS's that would change the boot.ini file?

err...ummm... sorry...but I thought it was funny.....

 

you can check the MSDOS.SYS file to see if something got changed. the line you should look for is

BootMenu=0/1

if its a 1 then the menu will appear everytime you reboot.
a 0 indicates you need to hit the F8 key to access the menu
