Boot Problem

I apologize if I've posted this in under the wrong category. I have a problem with my old Dell Dimension 4600C. Everything worked fine, moved the computer to a new location across the room, connected everything, attempted to start computer, problem. Power light comes on, heard the CPU whirl for about one second, the fan about one second, then nothing. Now when I attempt to start it, again CPU whirl about one second, fan nothing, and still...silence and absolutely no activity no boot. Any ideas?

 

You may have dislodged a cable inside the PC. You'll have to look inside and make sure all the cables are still firmly connected.

 

I forgot to mention I had done that right after the first time I tried to start it. Unfortunately or fortunately whichever way you look at it, I didn't find anything dislodged, although the hard drive doesn't seem to want to stay in it's nice little snapped in place, it's slides back and forth somewhat.

 

Just tried to start it again and other than the power light coming on, it's dead silent inside my computer.

 

Just a long shot but check inside your case to make sure the BIOS jumper didn't fall off. You should have a jumper connecting pins 1 and 2 on your motherboard.

 

Does the PC POST? If so how many beeps?
