Boot Problem

I bought a HP 8100, 250g SSD, 8G ram, Win.10, all is good except when it boots, it boots from the optical drive, I have to hold F9 key to get to the HDD, I tried changing it in Bios to boot from the HDD, but still will only boot from the drive. Any help appreciated.

 

If you DON'T have a CD/DVD in the optical drive when you boot, it should boot to the HDD since that's the only place that will have boot information.

 

When I boot I get this message "attempting to boot from us"

 

Sorry, did not say optical drive , was USB. Disconnected an exterior Hdd and it booted, any fixfor that?

 

Thanks, sorry for any confusion, yes I have to unhook the Usb drive to make it boot from the HDD, any fix you may be aware of?

 

You have to change the boot order again but make sure you choose 'save and exit'. It doesn't stick without that.

 

I did chose save & exit. I disconnected an external drive I use to store & backup programs and it booted to HDD, any idea how to fix it?

 

I've just plugged in my external Hard Drive which like yours I use for system back ups and data on this Win 10 system. I restarted and it boots from the INTERNAL HD as normal. So clearly your Boot Order changes are not sticking.

Have a look at the User Manual for your specific and exact model ('HP8100' is a printer - HP 8100 Compaq Elite is a laptop).
