    Hi guys,

This is something I should know but can't figure out. I've also ran a search here for an answer.

I have an XP pro box in a workgroup. I made 2 user accounts with one being for email/browsing as a read about from a poster here (Adrenylin I think). I was playing around with login options and service in services.msc and now when I boot I get the following error message:

"The system could not log you on. Make sure the user name and domain name are correct. Letters and passwords must be typed using the correct case"

Domain? Behind this is a partially covered login screen. Any idea how to make this stop coming up? After I cancel it I get to the normal user login for the 2 accounts. I've tried every combo of checkboxes in the "change the way a user logs in " in user control panel/ user accounts but no luck.

    Thanks for any ideas.

Maybe something got hosed when you were playing with the services. Try booting into "Last known good configuration" by pressing F8 when powering up the PC. Or maybe a system restore to right before the log in weirdness began. Or- just wait a bit.... I'm sure someone will come along with some more helpful info.... good luck!

Thanks Dave. When I hit F8 while booting it takes me to a list of the boot devices but no "last known good config" option.

Ahhhhh... that's probably 'cuz the motherboard has an F8 boot options menu. Here's what to do: press F8 to get the boot device options list, select your C: drive, before pressing Enter to confirm and begin booting, put a finger on the F8 key (don't press it yet). Then press Enter and IMMEDIATELY start pressing F8. That should bring up the Windows boot menu.....

Cool, I'll try that. It's an Asus P4P800se btw.

I tried last know good config but no dice. At least I now know how to get to that menu though.
