boot up problem

sometimes when i turn my comp on i get nothing but a black screen,so i turn off and after a few tries it boots to bios saying during my last boot up my cpu hung for an improper speed? i think this could be related to another thread i posted a couple days ago titled -----> weird cpu cooler problem because i have never had any problems until i changed the cooler is it possible i may have a fractured motherboard like someone said in that post also? anyone recomend a good mother board for a p4 478 pin? i mostly use this comp for gaming my current one is a asus p4sp-mx id like one with at least agp 8x and a pci-e slot for when i decide to upgrade from agp. any help is appreciated.

 

what are the other specs of the system...

Is this a commercial system (Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc.) or is it a special/home built pc??

it was a gateway ive changed everything since i got it though except for the os system and the cd drive

 

The reason I asked is because typically a third party motherboard will not mount into a commercila system like the ones I named above!!

But you say you've changed everything in it already?? Does that mean the motherboard too...and if so...was it an aftermarket board or was it one you ordered from gateway??? If it was an aftermarket board...i'm assuming it worked fine until the day that you changed the cpu fan!!??

Ok...well basically it has been turned into a homebuilt system!! Which is a good thing!!

It is a good/known brand and it has all the latest and greatest...nuilt into it, like the gigabyte lan, and the wifi, etc., etc.!!

However...if that exceeds your budjet...let me know what your top dollar and we will see what we can find!!!!

Are you sure it didnt hang because of an improper fan speed like I mentioned in your previous thread?

 

im sure because if i push just slightly on the cpu cooler from any direction screen goes black and i gotta turn it off and reboot and i know its not the cpu cause ive tried 2 diffrent ones and it does the same with both.

I don't know where you are from, but I know there is a warehouse in Naperville Illinois and if you live anywhere in illinois, and you order before 3:00pm...you will get it the next day!! Being that I actually live a couple of miles from the outlet store...I really couldn't tell you much about the shipping!!
