Boot Up Problems Since New PSU

After my Antec 550 Watt TP II supply died I replaced it with a Antec Neo 550 Watt. I have been having 2 intermitent problems since installing the new psu. After the windows splash screen the computer blue screens and resets itself, the blue screen only lasts about half a second, so I cannot read it. The second problem I have been having is the computer not loading windows. It gets to the splash screen, starts loading, and will not stop. The odd part is, after these two things happen, the third time I boot, the computer boots as normal. This only happens from a cold start, resetting will not replicate these errors, neither will turning the computer off then immediatly turning it back on. My Guard measures the 12v at 12, with no fluctuations during full load.I have since double checked all connections and all seem secure. Im out of ideas.

 

your new p/s might be the culprit.

 

Be sure and check the voltage slider on the rear of the power supply, 115 is where it should be, bought a new on that was set on 220, pc worked but had many problems until i found it, may or may not be your problem. ed

 

When changing power supplies, often overlooked is the video card's auxilliary power connection. Sometimes, the card needs a power connection to the motherboard ( near the video card) as well as a direct power connection to the card itself.
