I was using a linux boot loader before everything went to hell and back. Now all i get everytime i boot up is L99 repeated over and over again on the screen. Thing is I've managed to format windows which didn't help at all. So now i need a way to format a linux partition form the prompt. If no one has any beter ideas I'm going to go off and see what i can do by booting off mandrake.

Btw I like the new Forum, it's very Xp.

Note Simon & Garfunkel - el condor pasa, is quiet and excellent song.

I'm abite to advanced for my own good. I've nothing lying around that will allow me boot into DOS to get fdisk. Might go check that box under my bed for a windows 95 boot disk, now that i think of it. thanks.

Partition Magic Failed to boot off the CD for what ever reason. Found a really old Gateway Boot CD and got a dos prompt of that. Hopefully this will work.

That is an great link Halo, Downloaded the windows Xp boot thing. Didn't realise it required a floppy Drive, I do most things on USB pen drives these days.

    Edit: anywho that did work.

Basically what happened was, when my adsl modem was being the Pleb is usually is i clicked the power switch off and on really fast, forgettign that i wasn't on the laptop but on the main PC, and well this is the result. I've tried everything i can think of at this stage, resetting the cmos, formatting and the like, and i still get this L99 L99 L99 ... ect. The moderboard Postman seem to indicate all is well,

Reinstalled linux as well, its starting to occur to me that maybe its going like the floppy drive gone bang.

Right so nothing worked, at the stroke of midnight i danced around the hard drive three times and recited the hail mary backwards, surprisingly it didn't work. Then i noticed condesation on me grapjics cards, water system was leaking in some way. Fix it up and all back to normal now.

BTW did anybody get that song, it's good
