I have a problem. I recently changed cases and my computer will fire up. One problem is that it takes forever for the computer to recognize my drives. Although it sees all that I have eventually, when it gets to the "Verify DMI Pool......" screen it won't read from the hard drive and asks for me to insert system disk. My boot order is set up correctly: HDD, cd-rom, floppy. (that's correct, isn't it?) I have to put in my XP disk and let it go, I don't press enter. Only after I put my Windows XP disk will it go to windows. What is the problem here? I have 2 hard drives on the same IDE, the slave i formatted after I got into windows. I only have the cd-rom on the 2nd IDE. I'm sure that I changed the way it was originally in my 1st case. Would this cause problems? All the jumpers are correct I'm assuming since bios is reading everything I have. I haven't tried unplugging everything but my main drive and seeing if it would boot fine... i'll try that tonight. Just looking for some ideas on what's going on with my current setup. As always, any help is apprectiated

    thanks

Hi, I will see if I can help. What kind of hard drives do you have? I am wondering if you plugged in your IDE cable the way you had it in your old case. This is important for jumper settings and such. The way your computers boot sequence is set up is fine as long as the HDD is the one your operating system is on, is the hard drive selected in the sequence. Let me know what you find. I suspect that it will boot fine when you just hook up the primary HDD. You can leave your CDrom's hooked up. That is not your problem. Did you make any other hardware changes?

I have Western Digital's. The one with the OS is my master on IDE 1. I notice in the CMOS menu I can select Hard Drive, User- HDD or something like that. Is that the one I should have as the 1st in my boot order? I'm really not sure if this even means anything but I'm sure it does :)

oh, and originally the second HDD was not hooked up in my old case. Just had th 120 and the cd-rom on the same IDE. Small case and only 300w PSU so I was keeping some things unplugged.
