Bootable usb

I have a teaser here for you.
I would like to make a couple of my programs (UBCD/ FBI)boot directly from a USB flash drive.
I have searched the net and can find ways to do this but they all require transfer from a floppy plus all the pages i find are for Windows XP and i have Vista ultimate plus i do not have a floppy drive.
So what i am asking is there a way to transfer from CD/DVD to make it bootable
Also is there any way i can find if my Mobo can support this (it,s an OEM from HP 6months old)

i've got a knoppix bootable usb drive and the ubcd one - i made them in windows 2000 pro

if you mean booting from usb - try tapping F11 on boot, see if a boot options screen comes up, if it does then just use your up/down keys and enter to select boot device (works on my mobo)

 

I did try that and maybe i did something wrong as it did not work but i will give it another try tomorrow because the PC is running an application that needs about another 5 hours to complete and i don't want to stop it.
