    Hi Folks,
I'm getting an error message right after I turn on the desktop PC.

    Reads as follows
    "A DISK READ ERROR OCCURRED
    PRESS CTRL-ALT-DEL TO RESTART"

    What does this mean?
What can I do to fix this....?

Seems that the computer is not reading the hard drive.

    Need your advise....

    Thanks in advance

Check that you don't have any discs in the CDRom or floppy drives. If not then the HD probably is going/gone bad.

You could try turning off and unplugging the computer and letting it sit for a couple of hours to cool down. Then turn it on and try to boot. If it starts it definitely is time to backup your important data and get a new HD. You will only get a limited number of such cool starts.
