    Hello All,

I am desperately trying to find a utility download that will let me boot my computer from my keyboard. I have a Sony VAIO and i've already been in the BIOS and it's not offered to make this happen. I also e-mailed sony support and they said they don't support this in BIOS.

But!! I am not convinced! there HAS to be some utility download somewhere for guys like me...who can't get this done. Does MajorGeeks.com have a utility for this? I read through the 'boot' uiltities on here, but none of them get specific about being able to 'boot from keyboard'.

    Any suggestions, help, ideas???

    ...would be much appreciated...

    thanx,

i mean, like, if i woke up one morning...and instead of having to reach under my desk where my PC is located...and push the startup button...

..instead, i could just press like, "enter" or "ESC" or something on my keyboard...and the computer would start up...

    get it?

O.K. what the differance pushing one button or the other?

Another option just leave it on, then ya dont have too push any keys.

i know you can do it with 98 cause i have a 98 keyboard that has a button that says power and the keyboard driver/software had that function(obviously) ... might look for a new keyboard or search for a third party driver/software ... where you could get one, i do not know or if they even exist ... try googling

Easy. Get an ASUS A7V8X-X mobo. It's settable in the BIOS; you can start the system with a tap on the space bar or with a [ctrl-esc] combination -- or with a double-click on the mouse.

And to that end you cannot do that with your Sony machine. As the BIOS doesn't support it, its not gunna happen. Unless you wired yourself an extra momentary push-to-make button on your keyboard and wired to its case......

ha ha ha what a yes lazy little geek. Anyway turning the pc with the mouse isn't exactly so healthy.
I'd have to say , under the desk is it?
Now if you use your computer anywhere actually no 20% of what I do just imagine having to reach under the desk it would be like an AB buster. Imagine those washed beach look abs :)

Yes he may be lazy, but instead of turning your computer off at night, put it to standby and you should be able to tap the space bar or any other key and it'll come right back up.
