    Hi,
I changed my dvd from just a player to a burner too.
Since then, the computer will not boot normally,it just comes up with the HP screen & I cannot get to press F8 to boot in last know configuration.
On the HP screen it says press F10 or F12& "Network service boot & set up", but I can do nothing with these things,as pressing these keys does nothing :cry
    What could I have done?
I have checked the leads they are fine:confused

I have now removed the dvd and it is booting up fine.
How is it the Dvd did that :confused

Are you using a different cable from the hard drive?? If not, the CDROM's jumper might be set to master. You would want that to be set for Auto-Select.

No,I am using the same cable, the jumper appears to be set for slave(in the middle) where should i change it too? which is auto select?

Well my suggestion would be to use a separate cable for the cdrom and just plug it into the secondary controller on the mobo. If you don't have a second cable, the jumper selection should be clearly visible on the cdrom. You just have to look for it.

Just out of curiousity, is this an IDE or SATA cable? I'm not sure about SATA, but I know that with IDE cables, the master drive should be the first drive one the cable, meaning it's the closest to the controller.
