Hi my friends computer is having issues. She has a Toshiba Satellite C55D-D1520 windows 10 home, 4 gigs memory. The computer boots up way to slow and google browser is completely slow also the computer is eating up almost 100 percent memory and in task manager also her Hard disk reads at 100 percent. I have went into services turned of Superfetch and Search. I have fixed the boot up mode to 5 sec. I mean I have done so many things to try and fix these issues turned off all running applications ect. Also went through the steps on the Malware forum so I am cleared for any virus issue.

I know her processor is slow but it was running pretty good in the past, sooo yeah not sure what up.

Thanks for any help you can offer.:)

For the time and effort to see if you can optimise the OS. I would consider the purchase of a SSD drive. 240GB for as little as £25. You could install windows 10 afresh on the new drive and connect it to the existing drive through USB3.
    Good luck with the journey.

I would always start to check and repair the system files. To do this you would have to open the Command prompt with Admin privileges. and run sfc /scannow
The process takes about 20 minutes but it can often fix problems that it finds.
    Well worth a try.
    Good luck.

Which make/model is the SSD, size and % free space too.

(Google's Chrome eats resources for fun.)

In Task Manager, which processes are using 100% RAM?

Okay I was able to run scannow in safe mode and it came out fine. I will run what you say as well.

Probably means you don't have to worry too much about opening the zip file. It essentially just runs sfc /scannow for you.
If you ran the Command and it ended telling you all is okay then...
We have not solved the problem.
I try to have a belt and braces approach to sorting out Windows. I would suggest you take a system backup file just in case the disk drive packs up.
I hope that my responses have in some way been useful.
    Good luck.

I searched Toshiba's website plus 5 popular laptop reviewing websites and can't find the model you have listed.
Toshiba Satellite C55D-D1520 - is this correct?
    How old is the laptop?

Hi sorry my mom had surgery and had to run to Washington. I will look in the morning. I looked at the bottom of my friends laptop and that is what is says. It is a 2014 model so it is an older laptop original windows 8.1 os.

The bottom of the laptop should also have the model in front of the manufacturing date. Our two Acer netbooks from 2011 and 2013 show this information.
