Bootskins

Does anyone know of a bootskin program that will work with XP Pro SP2? I have one that worked fine until SP2 was downloaded and applied. I would really love to put my dragon back on the splashscreen.

I'm going to hang onto XP Pro for as long as I possibly can before I invest in the new hardware to run Vista but when I do move up, I will want a new bootskin program that will work with it too. By then, someone should have come up with a program.

 

There's one called BootskinXP (I think). I've used it and another one that was called LogSkin or something that also did skins for the logon screen. I'll do some searching and see if I can find a link or two and I'll post 'em....

Yes the best program is called Boot Skin

This program is safe to use and so easy to apply to boot skins. It is highly customizable, and if there isn't a boot skin you want They have a guide on how to make you own on the stardock website website.

I have a program called 'Bootskin' in my downloads file dated May of 2005. Maybe they have updated it since then to work with SP2. I will check out the link and see. I also have one in there called bootXP that must not have worked at well or else couldn't find my dragon boot skin because I didn't use it.




YAY!! They must have updated the program because I redownloaded it and it worked great. I now have my flying dragon back instead of the stupid Windows flag.

I tried this Bootskin software but it causes other people's background on my PC to reboot or go into a reboot cycle after login.
