I bought a new laptop this week, and I noticed that on the screen there is one pixel that is off - it is a light blue, and can only be noticed sometimes. I'm not fussed about it but I am worried that it may be an indication of a larger problem, or that it may spread. I was wondering if anyone knows why this might be, and if it might cause any future problems. Thanks in advance!

It shouldn't be a problem. Dead or mis-firing pixels are fairly common in new LCD displays. Most manufacturers actually state this in their warranties: an LCD is considered DOA or faulty if it has over 'X' number of bad pixels (usually 9 or 10, on the cheaper ones it may be as high as 15). If it's only one or two pixels, I wouldn't worry about it. I think there's a pixel "checker" utility you can download here at Major Geeks. It's in the Diagnostic downloads section (I think); I'd provide a link but I'm not sure of the program's name.....
