or Seagate NL35 series, Wester Digital RE2 ( maybe even 1x WD Raptor 75mb for OS and soft and one of the others as a slave for backups, downloads and data )

would be my choice's at present.

may have been nice to mention that first?

Get two Raptors for Raid0 and a third large one for storage.

What will you be using the PC for as Raid is not always the best option or will give you any substantial performance increase.

The PC will be used Primarily for Gaming and Graphics programs such as Flash/3D Studio Max/Photoshop CS 2, but I will also be using it for Music Production and Watching DVDs on as well. Primarily for High End Graphics games such as Elder Scrolls Oblivion (When it comes out) Never Winter Nights, World of Warcraft, and those types.

From what I know the raid setup isnt that helpful for gaming..and if your looking for a good gaming machine...the more ram the better...especially if you go with dual channel 400mhz ram and a lot of it...i'd recomend at least 1 gig of ram

Alright...so im not going to need to raid....what about dual 300 gigs...or something along that size...and RAID 1 for backup? Im getting new hard Drives becuase BOTH of mine just fried recently while I was hooking up my new stuff....and i lost ALOT of important stuff....I will be paying the extra money to get it back, but i dont want it happening again.

I intend to get 2 gigs of PC3200 400Mhz SD DDR RAM, seeing as that is the highest my motherboard can support. Any thoughts as to what brands and types are the fastest? i.e. Kingston, Corsair, Patriot...etc....

Raid1 is good for backup but would still have the downside of, if you contracted a virus, corruption of software/drivers that woudl be mirrored on both HDs,

So personally I would be going for a WD Raptor as the main C: OS and Software drive and 1 or 2 larger HDs for backups and downloads ( plus as you use PS CS2, having a 2nd hd is a bonus for moving the scratch disk on that drive rather than the C: drive its the optimal way for max performance from PS )

as for ram make very sure you get a certified match pair, from the likes of Crucial, kingston, Corsair and Mushkin

Alright....Raptor for the OS.....two larger drives for everything else...and I think Ill go with 2 gigs of Corsair Certified PC3200 SD DDR 400
