Bright White Screen When Playing Oblivion

I've just installed Oblivion for the 1st time and in the opening scene of the game there is only a bright white screen. I can hear people talking and I can move/look around perfectly with no lag as I can hear me bumping into things etc but I can't see anything other than a white screen.

Could it possibly be to do with BLOOM lighting? If so I tried turning it off in the options section of the game but it says that Oblivion must be restarted for the effects to take place. When I click 'Return' so that I can restart the game, it just crashes to a black screen and I get the following error message:

What are your PC stats and OS and have you tried patching Oblivion?

 

I had the same problem!!

It means, that your graphics card is not good enough...

But.. Hey.. you can still play...
I was sniffing around the internet and i came to one good home page....
you can download a program from that page...
the program let's you to play Oblivion on lower requirements...
It's called Oldblivion

It's almost all fine...
there are some magicka error's but you can hardly notice them....
For example... Soul Trap...
there are magick effects are replaced with lower graphic things....
