Is there any program available which will control brightness and contrast of the monitor from the desktop?

    Thanks!

Did your monitor or video card come with software? That would be the first place I would look. I never install monitor software (although I do expect they may be more reliable and/or better performing), but I do install Nvidia drivers, and that allows me to control the brightness of my monitor...

If you need further help, we will likely require a make and model of your monitor, and/or video card.

I could be wrong but I have never seen desk top monitor without setup buttons, if it is a flat screen they may be on the under side. They can be a bit confusing but with a little testing you should be able to achieve the results you want.

I want to be able to change my brightness control from my desktop and then be able to reset it to the default setting. I may need to do this 10-15 times in a period of ten minutes as I review auto license plates captured from an infrared camera at night. This would be much easier and quicker if I had a dedicated desktop or tray program that could accomplish this.

I am using window XP with service pack 3 with, with an acer flat screen monitor that does have brightness controls on the monitor and a radeon 600 card with ATI control panel which also controls brightness. Both are cumbersome to use and not practical for the usage described above.

I am looking for a stand alone program that will accomplish what I stated above.

    Thanks again!

I'm not sure if this will do what you want

I've used some of the legacy software but have never used any version of powerstrip. At least you can try it and if it doesn't do what you wish, simply uninstall it.

Thanks plodr! Gamma Panel 1.0.0.20 is exactly what I was looking for and the price is certainly right!

Great. Thanks for the feedback. This helps if someone else wants the same sort of program. I won't have to chase all over the web hunting down possibles. I can stay here and search, hoping I'll stumble across this thread. ;)
