broken links in win 98 se

compaq celeron 333 w/win 98 se 96 mg ram, 6 gig hard drive. Was using dial-up for years with no problem. Back in January I switched to verizon dsl and have found over a period of time, I could no longer click on links in e-mail and go to wherever. I just sit there with a smaller browser box open not going anywhere. As well I can no longer insert from my address book, i pick the names and then insert and i go nowhere. I called verizon up on this, we did a share the screen thing, i showed them the problems and all I get from them is it's a low resource thing. I have even gone so far as to blow down the hard drive to nothing and start from scratch......still the same thing. Any ideas? I have tried a friend's xp home and this problem does not exist. Can not afford to buy xp so I must stick with 98 se.

Just download and run it. Be sure to answer "yes" to everything, that's important. When it's done restart your computer and that should hopefully fix your problem.

that download did the trick, thanks alot for the help. this goes into my update file on things to install if i must redo windows. Thanks again.

Glad it worked.

I know you are pressed for space on the Hard Drive but you might be interested in the link below, it's a
UNOFFICIAL Windows98 SE Service Pack you may need it at some point. I'm not sure that Microsoft is still supporting Windows 98, so you can use this for the updates if need be.

i just found out that as of july 1st or july 11th microsoft will no longer support windows 98 products. I got alot of the updates on cd in case i do come up with a bigger hard drive. thanks for the link, i will keep it in mind
