Are you for a chance using the Adblock extension? It may cause issues with flash if Obj-tabs are enabled. To disable them: Tools->Adblock->Preferences. Click 'Adblock Options' and make sure 'Obj-Tabs' is disabled.

    i don't have tools>adblock.

    my browser version is 1.5.0.1.

i have been informed that youtube uses flash.
instead of the video a quicktime logo with a question mark inside it appears.

    edit
it also appears at the top of this page

Type 'about : plugins' (without spaces and quotes, had to use em since else they convert to smileys :) ) in your address bar. This brings up a page with all the plugins Firefox uses. First, verify that Flash is listed. Second, check that it is used to display .swf and .flv extensions (suffixes column)

What to do if QuickTime takes over handling Flash content

When you install QuickTime, or change your QuickTime settings, it may take over handling of Macromedia Flash files. However, this can be fixed quite easily. To stop QuickTime from handling Flash files, do the following:

    1. Close Mozilla (or Firefox)
    2. Open the QuickTime Control Panel
    3. Select "Browser Plug-in" from the dropdown menu
    4. Open up the MIME Settings dialog
    5. Make sure "Flash file" is not selected. This is listed under Miscellaneous.
    6. Click OK, and close the QuickTime Control Panel
    7. Remove the file pluginreg.dat from your Profile Folder. This file will be recreated next time you start Mozilla
    8. Remove npqt*.dll from your Mozilla or Firefox plugins folder. These files are not required, and can cause problems when QuickTime is upgraded

After doing this, you may need to reinstall Macromedia Flash Player. These instructions should be the same for both Windows and MacOS X, with the exception of the last step.

just found this. the fact that you have the quicktime symbol showing when you tube does indeed use adobe flashplayer this may be your problem:) or not:confused: something to try anyway

was hoping someone else may be able to point you to that one, I don't actually use windows anymore, although I did try and find it on my work computer that still runs windows and can't. Did you reinstall flash and try it anyway, might work
if not hopefully someone can point you to that file.
