Browser Email Wont Allow Changes

OK, this is very strange.

I cleaned up a computer for a friend.

She had SO much spy/ad/mal-ware on her computer plus a virus (several infected files) and TONS of games and music from her teen she wanted deleted (teen went off to college).

I'd added more ram and shut down most items in her start-up menu.

I installed, updated and ran: Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG Anti-virus AND also ran it through Trendmicro JUST to be sure.
I also installed Window Washer to delete all temp & cache files upon shut-down (have installed all of those on all of my friend's computers - first thing I do and THEN address whatever problems they're having - USUALLY though, it's just JUNK issues)

So when I took it back to her house it was clean as a whistle, and opening programs faster than ever.

So the first thing she wanted to do was log on to her YAHOO mail and reply to some and clean out others.

Yahoo would not allow her to make any changes. Check the DELETE box on any email and then click DELETE, nothing happens. You can read an email, but can't reply. You can't delete FROM reading the email either. You can't forward..... Nothing. You can open emails, but that's it.

So I accessed her Yahoo account via AOL to see if it was an IE or YAHOO issue. Still couldn't edit/alter/delete.

So I logged in to my mail.com account from her PC..... same thing.

So I came home and did all of the above on my home computer and they all deleted / replied just fine.

What in the world had happened to her computer (what did I do as it worked before I "optimized" it)?

She's running Windows ME
40 Gb HD
192 Mb RAM
(128 + 64)
