browser flash player (swfdec) not working

I am using Ubuntu latest version 9.0.4. The flash player is not working due to some bugs with the original distribution of swfdec. Have downloaded the new version (new directory in desktop) and having problem installing the new version. It requires "./configure", "make" and "make all" commands.

I complete the ./configure. However the "make" function is not working.

I've in installation instruction that I may be missing -dev, and I need to use ADD/REMOVE program to install the -dev, and now I am stuck.

Axe everything your doing now.


Let's try to knock out all those pesky restricted packages real fast while performing some quick maintenance!

Run:

sudo apt-get remove swfdec-mozilla

sudo apt-get -f install

sudo dpkg --configure -a

sudo apt-get update

Then Run:

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/`lsb_release -cs`.list --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list; sudo apt-get -q update; sudo apt-get --yes -q --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring; sudo apt-get -q update

Then:

sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2

sudo apt-get install w32codecs

Code:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Code:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree 

You could consolidate those last four into one command but let's watch those packages install for diagnostic reasons , Then log out and then back in and report back , good luck!

Followed your instructions. Installed all codes. No errors.
Shut down and reboot completed.

Ran Firefox, clicked on image, missing plug question was pointing to flash website. downloaded and it worked.

Is this what you expected? Thanks for your help.

Can you recommend a website that would provide training on linux (step after novice).
