Browser Hijacked, promotion for Privacy Defender

One of our computers has been hijacked. The desktop and browser have a colored background with threatening text which can't be removed; the CD tray ejects every few minutes and a system warning window pops up reminding us the computer is infected.

The screens contain a link to www.cleanprivacy.info. This site is a promotion for Privacy Defender.

I have run bitdefender, RavAntivirus, AVERT, about:Buster, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, HSRemove and CCleaner. These apps have found and corrected some problems but not the hijack.

My question is, (ethics rant at a later date ) will Privacy Defender remove this mess? We are looking at $29.00 or another day or so of messing with Hijackthis trying to remove the malware.

Panda Activescan - Give that a whirl and save the log and attach it along with a fresh HJT Log. For the HijackThis Log, please be sure to follow the instructions below:

Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.99.1) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder – C:\Program Files\HijackThis ! Should you need a Fresh Download of HJT, get it HERE: HijackThis v1.99.1

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.

Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.
