Hello all. I've been a trol on this board for some time now and it's a site I always go to for neccesarry information and interesting tidbits. But I registered because I'm having some issues and my google abilities aren't able to help me search for the neccesary information or fix anything. I have two problems that I could use some help on. The first; I just finished building my computer and I'm having a grand old time on it BUT, I have issuse with my broswer(Firefox). It seems for some strange reason pages are loading up significantly slower then about oh say 5 hours ago and the scrolling for pages is absolutly horrible. Is their a fix for this minor but very irrital problem? And also, I just aquired a new(USED) monitor from a family member, works fine but when I hook it to my PC's Video card(ATI RADEON 98OOXT PRO) hookup, the bios shows up normally and so does the windows logo saying,"loading". But when comes time to acctually see windows. Nada. I hooked up my old monitor and switched some of the settings in Bios. The new monitor is
connected to my on board VGA now and works fine, but wont show the actual windows log in screen or anything else after the loading screen if I switch it to the AGP slot(video card). Any help I could recieve would be spectacular. Thanks alot and hope to post more then just complaints and greivences.

Hello, and Welcome to Major Geeks! :)

When you say scrolling for pages is horrible what do you mean?

Have you added new programs since you first started that may be the culprit for the slower loading of Firefox?

Can you give us all your system specs?

Do you have a good antivirus, firewall, and antispyware in place? Have you scanned for these things? It doesn't take more than 5 minutes to get virus and spyware on the net1 :)

Get back to us and we'll see what we can do.

eclayton thanks for the reply. For the qustions that you ask, my scrolling has changed from very smooth to very choppy and slow. It's laggy if thats the proper word to describe it.

Hmmm yea I have added quite a few programs since Mozillia was initialy installed. A few are Spybot S&D, Jetaudio, Roxio easy media creator 7, anf from the looks of it that is all. I DL'ed those progs yesterday and I also uninstalled firefox then installed it agian before downloading those progs.

    hmmm I have a 2.66 intel processor.
    1 gig ram DDR.
    9800 xt graphics card
    windows XP pro

    I use windows firewall
    NOD32 is my antivirus
    I also use Spyware Destroyer

If more specs are needed, let me know so that way I can post them up properly if thins like mother board info, bios info, ect.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

As far as your scrolling problem, I'm guessing it's a driver problem with your video card. Make sure you've downloaded and installed the latest drivers, and make sure Windows hasn't installed it's own drivers before you install the factory drivers.

As for Firefox, I'm not sure what the answer is. Hopefully someone can lend a hand here...

Yea I kinda figured that. Was surprised to find out that such a small "thing" could be a huge prob. I eventually whent to my BIOS settings and fixed some of the display issues and set it to standard VGA instead of AGP. Works fine. I figured that out by tryint o boot up WoW but it gave me an error message. So I reinstalled WoW thinking the problem being was with me and my idiotic install. Tryed it again, some problem. So I checked it further and it said to install proper drivers. So now I'm on my regualr monitor untill I get time to install the drivers. And Firefox works peachy now. So yea for me. Thank you VERY VERY much for the feedback eclayton. It was greatly appreciated.
