hi :) , and thank you so much for taking the time to read my issue~

i have an ancient windows vista system (and so, prone to malware w/ even just benign use) - which i use ONLY to run videos as a small money earning activity ...and that (small money earning) is why i hope to be able to keep this system running for as long as i can ...so your help would be ~ invaluable ~ to me...

...a while ago, i started having some telltale signs of malware -

shortly after starting, firefox would freeze up ...but i try to not bother you kind folks too often, so i didn't come here for help right away -

...then, over time, browsing in firefox wasn't working to most sites -

then, "it" (the evil malware) started taking over chrome, too -

nearly any site i'd go to, i'd receive a message that its dns server couldn't be found ...and, the little internet connectivity icon in my system tray started showing as though there wasn't any internet access...

that's the situation i'm in now, browsing - and obtaining help programs/running scans - has been nearly impossible,

...and now (i am writing this, NOT to be long winded, but in case another user finds this and, my sharing my "workaround" might help them...) :

i was going to have to ask if i could break the rules and /paste/ my logs, because the malware wouldn't let me upload -

( may a user break that rule, IF the malware won't let them upload? :( )

it wouldn't even let me "post" the thread the normal way, i had to first click "preview," THEN when that loaded i was able to "post" -

then i was able to upload, by clicking "edit," and "more options," and uploading one at a time - holding my breath for each one! ...ugh, i hate malware & viruses!

***rogue killer turned up 23 results*** and i was so excited to delete them, but i tried to heed the forum instructions and just post the logs and patiently wait -

    may i please delete them?

thank you so much for taking the time to review my issue, and,

if/when you're able to post back, please bear with me, as ...it is almost impossible for me to manage to get back here -

(again, sharing my workaround in case it might help someone) i've had to go through bing search, type this site's name, and my username, right click "open in new tab" on the search result of one of my past threads, hope the site loads,

log in by right clicking "open in new tab" on log in,

then right click "open in new tab" on the "malware help a specialist will reply" link at the beginning of my thread -

and do that all over again any time i need to come here, and one of these times it might not work :(

...okay, i ~ patiently ~ await your help, and ...thank you again :)

You are not having malware issues. I suggest you post in the software forum for additional assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    3. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    4. Now go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 or 10 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    5. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    6. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

...may i just ask why you feel this is not malware related?

i dont understand why my software would start disabling my browsing...

...if you really feel it is software issues, can you please have a specialist from that forum look at my logs and help me here? because it is almost impossible for me to post, etc - now i am resorting to using my phone to be able to reply to you :(

    i do ~thank you~

Your software is not disabling your browser, but there may be some mis-configuration in your network that is causing it. Therefore, I suggest you post in the software forum since it is not a hardware or malware issue.

...i have posted in the software forum, but... browsing is slightly better w/ 12 out of _23 infections found_ by rogue killer... (i'm still concerned about the other infections it found on first run, but didn't turn up/clear on second run though :( ) -

maybe the malware /changed my internet settings/? ...anyone who sees this, can you please help evaluate mine and help possibly restore mine? (my other thread is located at... https://forums.majorgeeks.com/threads/browsing-99-disabled-part-2.319655/... thank you so much...

What Roguekiller found was not malware.
