Browsing and surfing slow

1. List what is running at startup.
2. Open Task Manager and what 2 processes are using the mist CPU %? (exclude system idle).

Make sure you do this with your browser open. What browser and version are you using?

 

Type msconfig in the run box the click on msconfig.exe and click on the startup tab.

If chrome is using the most CPUs and the computer is slow surfing, you'v found the problem - google chrome.

 

1. Realtek HD Audio Sound Effect Manager - needs to run at startup
2. Windows Defender - needs to run at startup
3. AdobeARM - turn off check for updates on AdobeReader and AdobeAcrobat then uncheck this item; better yet would be to replace AdobeReader with something less prone to malware. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/sumatra_pdf.html
4. Stop this from loading at startup. Again this is a program I have not had on any computer in more than a decade.

6. needs to run at startup
7. Stop it. If you need to do something with your Nvidia card, you can reach this through the control panel icon.
8. Let alone this is used by windows and you might see several if you open Task Manager.
9. Associated with the newer versions of nVidia graphics cards drivers. Not required to run at startup.
10. QuickTime is not needed to run at startup. It uses resources. Turn it off.
11. CTFMon is involved with the language/alternative input services in Office XP. CTFMON.exe will continue to put itself back into MSConfig when you run the Office XP apps as long as the Text Services and Speech applets in the Control Panel are enabled. Not required if you don't need these features. Your call on whether it is needed or not.

Does this happen in all browsers or only Chrome?

Might be wise to finish your malware thread HERE before trying various other fixes as they may not be anything to do with the issue, that could be malware so that has to go first, before you fix 3rd party apps like browsers etc
