I posted a week about about "BSOD U845-S406 0x1000007E". No solution was found. I can't do a system restore as my Toshiba U845 doesn't have a restore drive or disk. I was going to load a new copy of W7 and hope for the best, but first I tried loading a new copy of iastor.sys from iata_enu.exe.

Windows says I have the latest version, and the one on Toshiba is the same as mine, but Intel has a later version and I had nothing to lose.

Well, now I get a different error. With the same 10-20 minutes as before I get a BSOD, only a different one. It now says "Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", on the old error it just said it wasn't defined, or something like that. And it references iastora.sys rather than iastor.sys as before.

When I load the iastor.sys from Toshiba, the error goes back to the first one; and goes to the second one again when i losd the later version.

Is this error anymore fixable, or is it really just the same error but with a different message?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have the dumpfile, but apparently they cannot be attached here.

You are supposed to create your own recovery disks.

Sadly there is no recovery partition.

I tried to update the display driver, but the machine won't stay up long enough to do it.
