BSOD 0x024 Stop Code Error

The computer I have is the HP media center m7060n. For a long while I've been having start up problems with XP Media Center Edition. It would freeze on the Windows XP logo screen. Now I have the BSOD with error code 0x0000024.
I've researched enough to see that it's a Nfts.sys problem.... after that I have no idea what to do.

I have tried starting up in safe mode and last known config....I still get the same BSOD.

Prior to the BSOD, I ran PC Diagnostics on the memory and hard drive, all came back fine.

Does anybody have any advice on how to fix this without using recovery discs?

Since I don't have a recovery disc and I'll probably have to buy the OS, would it be better just to upgrade the computer to Windows 7?

First, you can't buy XP any more.
Second, I looked at HP's site to see if they sell a recovery disk for your computer. They do not.
Third, the computer is fairly old and probably has minimum RAM so buying everything to upgrade to Win 7 might be a waste of money.

I did find out that your computer probably has a recovery partition

You might be able to restore it but NOTE, if you do that, you will be back several years in time when the computer was new. You will lose all the files and programs you've installed as well as having to apply a few hundred windows XP security patches.
I mention this as a last resort only.
