I am trying to fix my friends computer, i stripped the computer and put it back together just using required parts. He has a dell xps gen 2, i put in the windows xp sp 2 cd into the cd drive pressed any key to install, pressed f6, came to a screen pressed s to install the raid drivers, installed the raid drivers, i pressed enter to continue on the bottom of the screen it says "starting windows" and then the hard drive shuts off and the bsod shows up saying i have a 7b error. I took the hdd put it into another desktop, non dell, installed xp, put it back into the xps and got the bsod when the windows load bar finished loading.

I tried everything, swapping the ram for new ram, put a completely new hdd in the xps, new video card, nothing seems to work. I looked all over google for answers but i cant find anything. Any ideas?

Reading elswhere a guide to your error is to boot with barebones, ie vid card/HD/cd rom/memory then try again. If this fails clean your disc or try another. Incidentally WHY does everyone use google search I never and have no problem finding solutions with another search engine ??? And Welcome to MG 101problems
