Watsup guys, everytime i run Word of Warcraft, or another Graphic-intensive game, anywhere from 3-60 minutes i get a keyboard dropout or blue screen of death with the error 0x1000007F.

Ive attached the dump files....they ALL seem to be caused by a file named "ntkrnlpa.exe", microsoft. Ive also ran memory diagnostic tools with no errors showing.

    Anyways here you go...HALPPPPPPPPPPPPP :cry

    Hi

Its very likely that heat or temp of your GFX card could be causing this so what temps are in your PC, CPU, Motherboard and GPU? Speedfan can help with this HERE plus I guess unless you are using a graphicly intensive game and just surfing the net your PC is ok with no BSODs?

I would be tempted to re-install the latest ATi driver for your GFX cards model and see how you go, but also is this a desktop or laptop?

If desktop then do with it switched off make sure the insides and the fans and air vents are all clean from dust, if a laptop then make sure the air vents are free from dust.

The 0x7f error (equivalent to your 0x1000007f) with the first parameter of 0x8, is usually a kernel stack overflow or a hardware issue. You also have a number of other BSOD types listed, best to rule out hardware first.

Turn off all overclocking, test the memory (MemTest86+ from the CD for 7+ runs), check and re-seat all connections, cards, memory sticks, hard drive connections ...

C:\Windows\Minidump\ <-- please copy the dumps from here to your Desktop then zip them and attach the zip file, I'll try to debug them further.

Hey sorry, forgot the basic PC info.

    Intel Core i5 2.6ghz 750
    Intel Motherboard
    Nvidia 8800 GT
    2x2GB 1333mhz RAM

Ive just reinstalled the latest Nvidia Drivers. I also cleaned out the dust from the GPU/CPU fans about a week ago, and the problem remained. I also thought it was PSU problem, maybe a power surge of some kind (cuz of the keyboard/mouse dropouts) so i purchased a Thermlate 600W PSU, no luck.

I NEVER get BSOD/USB dropout while im just surfing the net or the PC is idle, only when i play certain games.

I've attached a screenshot of the progam you suggested.

I've attached the Minidump file you requested. I will runt memtest now and let you know the results.

I have NOT overclocked the PC in anyway.

    Thanks for the help.

Your CPU core and GPU temps are all about 24C higher than I have, your HDD are within 10C of 'danger' levels - what is the room temperature?

Can you remove a side casing and point a room cooling fan into the case?

When i took the first screenshot, my AC wasnt on, and its a really hot day.
I turned the AC on about 2 hours ago, so the room is pretty cold at this point, its aroudn 22-25 degrees celsius.

Here is a screenshot of after playing 1.5 hours of CounterStrike, its a bit cooler than it was when the AC was off.

I can remove the side case, but ive never had this problem 1 year ago, i mean all the fans work, they dont slow down or anything over the years do they?

Ok, the temps are now lower, about 18-20C lower for CPU but only about 7C lower for the GPU.

You have to ensure that the computer remains cool, check that any filter in the case is clean, especially the inlet filter, usually low at the front.

You may need to remove and clean the CPU heatsink and fan assembly and use a tiny amount of good quality thermal grease after cleaning off the old.

The 8800/9800GT's are old now, they often ran hot and loud - because the fans ran hard on them and they were difficult to cool - maybe your GPU fan is not as efficient as it was, perhaps it's time to buy a newer, cooler-running GPU?

I recently replaced my 9800GT with a HD5770 - it made a big difference, cooler and much quieter.

Thanks for the input, ill check the lower-front area to see if its clogged, i actually forgot about that area :p

Anyway, i was shopping around for a Graphics card anyway so its a good time to buy one, perhaps it will solve my issues.

Im gonna go with the Nvidia 560Ti.

Ill let you know how it turns out! Thanks a lot m8's.

Hey guys, I just installed the new Nvidia PNY 560Ti, and i was doing a Futurmark Test, 4 or 5 minutes into the test, all the USB slots dropped out, they all just stopped working, keyboard, mouse, modem, iPhone stopped charging.

This was the symptom i was experiencing when i played WOW on my old graphics card, (was either BSOD or USB dropouts)

I feel like *** right now thinking the graphics card would help. Apparently its not the problem.

    SIGH

    • Have you tested the power supply?
    • Got a power supply tester?
    • Do you have another power supply you can use to see if the same issue occurs with it?

Does the PC lock up/crash when you do the below:
Open Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Re-run the assessment

Are all the USB devices connected to USB ports on the motherboard, or connected to USB PCI-card?

Hey, thanks for the reply, as i mentioned, I bought a new PSU and installed it. So its not a Power problem.

The USB's are all plugged into the motherboard directly into the back. I will try the "re-runassement" when i get home and let you know if it locks up.

    Thanks

Yo, thisisu, i did what you told me, i opened up the Performance Information and Tools, and at the top i pressed "Refresh Now" and it was loading, like 1 minute into ti the keyboard dropped out as well as the modem!

It never drops out during windows or non-game usage, but when i did what you said, they dropped out!

That's quite shocking! What does that tell us? :cool

So you're using the 280.26 driver, correct?

For troubleshooting purposes, can you please uninstall those graphic card drivers and then use the CD that was inside the box with the Nvidia 560Ti graphics card to install the drivers.

I've seen very few cases, where having the "latest and greatest driver" put out by NVIDIA causing random issues like the ones you're experiencing. Like one user would only have trouble viewing blue ray DVDs, about 1min into the DVD the PC would crash, everything else worked beautifully and tested out OK. But he would also get BSOD when doing the Assessment test. Using the driver from the NVIDIA CD fixed this.

    • Your 56K modem port on the motherboard?
    • Your 56k modem port on the PCI card?
    • The ethernet port on the motherboard?
    • The ethernet port attached to a PCI card?
    • Your actual high-speed cable modem?

    Please specify.

Actually when i got the new graphics card, i used the driver that came with the CD, i believe is 266. My old graphics card had the latest ones, not this one.

My modem is a dongle, which i attach to the USB port in the back of the PC.

At this point, I think either your motherboard or the processor is the culprit. More likely the motherboard as the USB ports are intermittent with it. If you say the RAM passes, I don't see what else it could be since you've already used a different PSU and gfx card / drivers.

The next step in troubleshooting would be to try with a different motherboard.
