Has anyone had the problem of a BSOD while installing ZA? The error message advises me that there is a faulty driver at the top of the stack, and to replace it before proceeding. The error happens with both versions of ZA, and is perfectly repeatable.

I am running XP SP3 on a 2.4ghz 256 meg HP D330, with no other av or firewall software installed or running.

    Anybody got similar experiences?

gday you have not mentioned the name of the driver that is faulty and causing the issue.although you have mentioned that you have 256 meg is this your total amount of ram,if so you might want to consider using a much light firewall like pc tools firewall or comodo, one that uses less resources.

the stack listing I get does not list the driver name or number. It does list a 4-word hex number which I didn't record since I am not able to follow hex addresses.

I did try Comodo, but I had the same trouble so I uninstalled that also. The difficulty I am running into is with configuration of either one of the progs. Until I figure out how to do that I will use the native XP firewall, though I really don't trust it all that much.

It's a shame that when ZA updated it's version that it forced users to configure everything seperately instead of having a pretty good default config built in, as before. You could then reconfigure it, starting with the default config and using that as a working model. You could then revert to default if your new version didn't work as expected.IMHO, was a perfectly good option, (begin rant) especially for us self-trained geeks who don't easily follow the Byzantine serpentine B.S. of most written manuals, which are usually written by gorks & dweebs who couldn't produce a simple declaritive non-Jargon-ridden English sentence if a gun were pointed at their heads (end rant).

    Thanks again,
    Pete
